What Customers Say About Apple MacBook MB403LL/A 13.3-inch Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive) White:

Perhaps price has come down in the past six months. This is my first time using a Mac,and I don't think I'll ever switch back to PCs again. I am only pissed that the price on Amazon is $200 cheaper.

I've had to return two white macbooks so far. So I returned it got a refund then ordered another white macbook. The first one had some keyboard issues. This was especially apparent when I would start up my computer in the morning.

After I did this it worked fine but I wasn't about to pay a good amount of money on a defective macbook. The second unit had a faulty trackpad. The trackpad button would work very inconsistently especially when clicking on the right side and the left side of the button. So now I'm waiting on my replacement macbook that should arrive in the next few days. I did some research on it and after a few searches I found out that I had to put a tiny piece of folded paper inside the battery compartment to fix it. Each one came with a defect that was completely unacceptable for a $1,000 laptop.

The button on the trackpad was very mushy and it didn't "click" at all. I'm crossing my fingers on this one. The tab key would feel mushy, like there was a piece of gum under the key. This macbook also had a slightly misaligned case.

Apple's integration of both software and hardware is unmatched by any computer company out there. When people say that "everything just works" on a Mac they're not lying. The Mac OS is years ahead of anything else. If you're not sure about this computer, or any other Apple computer I highly recommend that you give it a try. The iLife software that's included is all that the average user will ever need to manage a digital lifestyle. I got the 2.4ghz.

What drew me in were the looks, but this computer is so much more than that. In 6 months I haven't had a single problem. White MacBook back in July, and I can say that I've never in my life been so impressed by a product. The iSight camera can be loads of fun when using Photo Booth, and very convenient for video chatting. You won't regret it. It's simply fantastic.

Things like expose and spaces make using this computer very easy.

Perhaps I should have quit while I was ahead, saying good riddance to Explorer and Safari. I'd love to echo some of the previous reviewers' sentiments about this being the "perfect" machine, but my experience testifies to the contrary. The MacBook promised to be a better machine than the iBook that it replaced--faster, tighter key action, sharper screen resolution. At least I can't say that, especially with a laptop model, I wasn't warned.

(Look elsewhere for any other Apple computer with reviews consistently under 4 stars).Still, I had 14 months of problem-free performance from this machine and would probably recommend it to friends and family looking for a fine laptop at under a grand. But it might not be a bad idea to deploy any savings realized from purchase of this machine toward Apple's 3-year protection plan. I'm sorely tempted to swap out at this stage for the new, more powerful, aluminum unibody Macbook (the one with an illuminated keyboard), but all you have to do is read consumer reviews to know that ordering one, despite the hype from Apple, requires a considerable leap of faith at this stage. I've had Apples freeze up on me or slip into perpetual kernel panic mode, but none beyond resuscitation by the medic squad of Apple fans-technicians within driving distance from home. This is the first one that gets sent in.

Like numerous other MacBook OSXV users, I simply could not get my browser (Safari) to "see" the program, regardless of how many times I downloaded it and installed it, supplemented it with other programs designed to facilitate better functioning of the Adobe program, and followed suggested solutions--at least 10, from MacAddict articles and advisors at Apple Support.Next, I downloaded Explorer, with the same results followed by a failure of the same suggested cures. I found it to be a faster and simpler browser on the Mac than Firefox and continued to use it--for several days. I've been an Apple owner for the past 20 years, running two machines and replacing one of them (laptop or desktop machine) every other year. But Safari, like Apple, can grow on you.

The browser was the first (and only one) to "see" Shock-Flash player on my hard-drive, thus enabling me, for example, to play as well as embed Youtube videos into articles. But into the 14th month, I began editing for a site that required the use of Adobe Shock-Flash Player. Finally, I downloaded Firefox and had limited success.

My previous PCs took up to 5-7 minutes to completely start. Everything from the address book, calendar, to mail feature is easier to use than the PC versions. This computer does everything virtually instantly. The note taking ability of Word is very different though. The Macbook is the best computer I've ever had.

Everything is easier on a Mac and works in the most logical way. With the Macbook, as soon as I plugged my digital camera in it starting working. I could upload pictures, edit them, and they were never saved to an area of my computer that was hard to locate later. The entire system is extremely easy to use.

It just takes getting used to. I will never own another PC again. If that is too much for you to get used to, Macs can also run windows, so it wouldn't be a problem. I like it better. The layout is very different. And figuring it all out took some time.

Another feature that fits my lifestyle perfectly is the options with photos. That is a great feature for being as active as I am.

It got confusing. I love it and won't ever use anything else.

With my old PC I felt like I was always uploading new software with every digital camera to make it possible to upload pictures and then other software for editing pictures. The first thing I realized I loved about it was the startup time.

It can actually look like you're writing on notebook paper and flag certain areas of the notes that are important. The only thing that took serious getting used to was the Microsoft Office applications.

I thought the transition from windows would be difficult, but it wasn't at all. I can sync my calendar and to do lists to my iPod quickly and easily.
